Attacked from space

August 30th, 2009 by brettkm

I couldn’t believe my ears. Hearing on the radio that the Tidbinbilla Deep Space Communication Complex outside Canberra, Australia had sent 25,000 text messages to a planet outside our solar system, 20 light years away!

It makes one ponder why they can send that many texts to another planet, yet Telecom struggle to send one text to someone 1m away. But we won’t get into that.

The other morning travelling to work I hear that there was a major earthquake in Wellington that night. Moments later I saw a meteor shooting down from the sky. Apparently never reaching earth but appearing nevertheless to do so. And now I am able to connect the dots…

The life in other planets were sending these natural occurrences to us. Why? Because we’re about to bombard them with 25,000 text messages!! Any bugger would be pissed off having to go through deleting all of them!!

Lets be patient. I’m quite comfortable waiting for these things from other planets to come to us. I see no reason why we should be hurrying up the process. And after being spammed 25,000 times, it may be better they stay right away altogether.

Subtle Admission…

June 9th, 2009 by brettkm

“I didn’t do it, I didn’t do anything, I’ve never been in trouble before”

Its all standard stuff for the police to hear, and when the person in question then quotes law and acts of law with ease, and even mimick the reading of their rights, you know you’ve got the right guy.

I couldnt help but laugh when i saw this on Police Ten seven the other week. They seem to be sure the can convince the cops they have the wrong person. I’d say the subtle admission they then give by refering to sections of the law pretty much puts them in shit street.

I have yet to work out what it is that makes a person confident they can convince the police its not them. Maybe its the alcohol that is usually involved. Or the drugs. Either way they are pretty sure if they tell the pope he’s actually buddhist, he’ll believe them.

The crime shows on tv are not the place to learn the best excuses. I have never heard so much rubbish. One guy telling the police he wasnt running down the drive way and into the garden of some strangers house to get away, he just wanted to go that way! Oh of course! I’ve seen the light! How stupid the police and every other soul watching were to believe that he was at some stage involved in any sort of strife.

I’m sure they have heard many more fasinating excuses to so many situations. And really some of these drop kicks make the ‘My dog ate my homework’ excuse look like gospel.

So next time you see a young, rough looking man trying to keep his pants up while running down the street with a spray can in his hand, just remember… he just decided to run for no reason!

Telecoms New Network

June 2nd, 2009 by brettkm

Well they’ve launched the new network. Telecom XT its called. And apparently its got better coverage.

Well of course it has. It couldn’t get much worse than what it was before.

I have lost txts somewhere in the mobile space world. They have left my phone and not been received by anyone. At least as far as I know.  I have encountered not receiving a phone call from a person standing right beside me. And on several occasions wondered, when will my lost conversations be recovered from the dark depths of Telecoms ‘can’t be bothered connecting’ barrel. So for them, to say its better than before is certainly a relief.

The new XT network also has plan changes and new phones. And this is forcing people to pay more when they eventually switch over to XT. So the competition begins…. Will telecom users like the new plans and phones? Or like me, will they find the phones overpriced and stuck in a corner when it comes to picking suitable plans.

Vodafone hopes it’s the latter. And I believe for a great portion of us, that that will be the case. Everything in the electronic world is always changing and updating, and after being the slow poke in the line, Telecom appears to be trying to catch up.

They may have to rethink the capacity of the average earners wallet though if they want to gain customers. Or even just keep the ones they have. Or in my case… Had.

Farting Cars

June 1st, 2009 by brettkm

Finally, the farting car phenomenon appears to be about to hit a speed bump.

The people in charge have decided to transform the noisy fuel hoggers cars into a new version of the rubix cube. The senseless idea of continually driving round and round and round has always gone right over my head. They obviously find somewhere that sells petrol much lower than the rate I get it at. But after the fun they have had and the problems they have caused and the money they have cost the general public, the people have had enough. And the government is listening.

Their annoying and juvenile behaviour has slowly turned obtrusive, intimidating and downright dangerous. They have not only abused poeple on the street, but have threatened and intimidated police and more recently, a lone female airport security officer.

So I for one am not disappointed with the move. These guys and girls might finally learn some responsibility and respect for the public and the law.

Farting cars just don’t do it for me.

Maori Hikoi

May 25th, 2009 by brettkm

I don’t know about you, but i’ve heard Maori people talk about being treated differently and that the white people are racist towards them. Well after todays performance, what the hell do you expect.

They bring it on themselves. They want to be equal and treated the same, but want their own seat on the supercity council. You can’t have both. If they believe they are equal to any other contender for the seat, then they should stand to be chosen for a seat when an election takes place, like everyone else has to.

Who the hell wants a supercity anyway. Auckland is big enough without it combining and starting to sound like its taking over the world. As soon as the idea of a “supercity” was brought to the attention of anyone who could run it, they became possessed to make it reality. They have become power-hungry at the thought of a powerful and consuming supercity.

You give some people an inch… they’ll take a mile…

1 blog down, we’ll see how it goes.
